In-mould Labels

In-mould labels (IML) are quickly becoming the labels of choice for plastic containers of fast moving consumer goods (FMCG). IML offers excellent opportunities for differentiation in an increasingly competitive market place.

In-mould labels are predominantly made from polypropylene and are applied directly into injection moulds at the time of manufacturing containers. Labels fuse with the container and provide a superior, seamless and resilient high quality finish. They are hard-wearing, long-lasting and are fully recyclable if printed on a polypropylene film.

The IML process is fully automated, fast and hygienic. IML containers eliminate the need for subsequent labeling e.g. self-adhesive labels or direct screenprinting, thereby reducing cost and increasing efficiency.

GEON has the specific ability to produce large-format in-mould labels for large containers, such as 10 litre paint pails, as well as having the capability to produce small-format labels for FMCG packaging. GEON’s IML solutions include the use of white opaque, metallised and clear films, along with clear laminates and embellishment with metallic foils.

GEON provides a one-stop-IML-shop in providing the following IML solutions.
